With raw materials working trace of the Japan's biggest iron sand smelting factory "Kawasaki Steel Corp. Kuji factory", in this deposit, iron sand about 100 million years ago deposits in the bottom of the sea and is rare deposit of the country one and only that rises by the next crustal movement, and was born once.
Iron sand which granite of the neighborhood of Hirono-cho weathered about 800,000 years ago, and was made deposited in the sea and made iron sand deposit. It becomes hill, but we are exposed to the ground of about 250m above sea level by upheaval of the earth as kainaridanoka and are seen now. What can look at iron sand deposit becomes only the neighborhood of Ono athletic ground now.
Iron sand of Ono district is called Masago (masa), white Masago (shiramasa) and is called doba iron sand again, and it is said that this doba iron sand deposit is maximum domestically.
